Wake to the sound of wild salmon thundering up the river, spot bears working the falls before breakfast, and sleep under a sky full of stars — all from your own porch at the edge of Alaska's most productive fishery.
When our family first staked a claim along the Kenai River in the late 1980s, we weren't looking to build a resort. We were looking for a place where our kids could learn what it means to wait for a king salmon to show — and then earn it.
Thirty-five years later, that patience is still the point. Every cabin, every guide, every morning coffee on the deck is oriented around one thing: giving you unfiltered access to the river, the wildlife, and the kind of quiet that only exists this far north.
"The Kenai River doesn't care about your gear or your resume. It only cares whether you're willing to show up early enough to earn the fish."
— Founding philosophy, Alaska Homestead Lodge
Every experience at the lodge is designed around what the Kenai Peninsula actually offers — not what a brochure says it should. Real rivers. Real wildlife. Real work, if you want it.
From May through September, the Kenai runs with five species of wild salmon. We provide guided drift boats, float trips, and bank fishing — plus gear, licenses, and a cleaning station so you can take your catch home properly.

Brown bears congregate at the river's spawning falls from June to August. Our guides know the safe viewing spots and the timing. You'll see them work the runs, play with cubs, and generally remind you why you're not at the zoo.
